Borja Foncillas graduated in computer engineering from UAM. He has also completed the Executive Management Programme at IESE. He joined Afi in 2000 as the head of Digital Solutions and was made partner in 2002. He has additionally been serving as the firm’s chief executive since 2017 and president since 2022. Borja is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Afi Foundation and sits on Afi Escuela’s Academic Board.

His chief areas of expertise include technology, project management, strategic planning, financial service innovation, business intelligence, risk management, financial advisory and asset management.

Borja Foncillas also boasts experience as director of studies and lecturer in post-graduate programmes in the areas of innovation, digitalisation, data science and big data, notably including his role in the Masters in Data Science and in Big Data offered by Afi Escuela.
