
Bachelor´s degree and PhD in economics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and MA in Economics from the University of Essex (United Kingdom). He is also Senior Lecturer of Economics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has been Executive Director of the Fundación de Estudios de Economía Aplicada (Foundation for Applied Economic Studies), Associate Lecturer of the Instituto Juan March de Estudios e Investigaciones (Juan March Institute for Studies and Research) and Visiting Lecturer at the Colegio de México. He worked as a Administrator in the Commission of the European Union. He is the author of numerous articles in national and international journals and of volumes and monographs on subjects ranging from the economic consequences of ageing up to the evaluation of the economic effects of public policies, and including regional and sectoral, macroeconomic and job market studies. He forms part of the Boards of various economic journals and professional associations. He regularly contributes to the main general and economic newspapers in Spain. From his professional position in Afi, he advises companies, business associations and public authorities in the above issues.
